I think the term was invented when 69 people were indicted in the Watergate scandal. 14 people were indicted in the Iran Contra scandal. Both pub administrations. Pence is smart enough to know he's carrying water for a lunatic. Lawyer up big time. How much do you think will get done with everyone lawyered up. 1st thing all attorneys tell everyone is to stop talking.
I think the term was invented when 69 people were indicted in the Watergate scandal. 14 people were indicted in the Iran Contra scandal.
The first known use of "lawyer up" was 1995 during the Clintons administration.
Nice try though.
What really spooks the honest, hard-working, likable, routinely successful detectives on ?N.Y.P.D. Blue? is the prospect of a suspect ?lawyering up.? The detectives cajole and threaten to keep the probable perp from exercising his right to counsel, because once a sharp lawyer appears the client will say nothing and the audience will be deprived of the confession that climaxes so many episodes. ? Walter Goodman, New York Times, 23 Feb. 1995
Once again....all of this investigation is being done to derail the President's agenda. There is no obstruction, no collusion with Russia or anything else. It's all manufactured by the left and the liberal media. The FBI has investigated for 11 months and found nothing. Neither has the CIA..the NSA or any other of the fourteen investigative organizations. I can't for the 2018 elections and the Republicans get bigger majorities in both houses. Watch and see. The democrats never learn.
The committees in both houses have investigated for 6 months and found nothing. When is enough....enough?
They just started the investigation, there is no outcome yet so what you are saying is not true
Actually, the FBI has been investigating for 11 months and the two congressional committees have been investigating for 6 months. This is not a new investigation. It's rehash of investigations that have been going on for a long time. They will interview the same people, see no evidence and come to the same conclusion...no crime. So it is true. An investigation usually has a crime to investigate and find out who did it. This one has NO CRIME and is a witch hunt. In other words, let's look and see if we can find something. That's a witch hunt!
You are correct, jw. All the intelligence communities have said there was no Russian interference. Ergo, no crime. And, if there was a crime, it would be against the Russians. Not the current administration, but the previous administration. BTW, obstruction of Justice requires intent to be proven.
Here is what is necessary for "Obstruction of Justice" by definition:
Just so you know in the legal definition of "obstruction of justice" there must be a corrupt act which must have one of the following five things: 1. a lie 2. a threat 3. a bribe 4. destruction of evidence 5. or concealing of documents
Comey alleges none of these, so what the President did does not constitute obstruction. This "investigation" is dead in the water before it starts.
Once again, I say there has been no crime and this investigation is a witch hunt.
Once again, I say there has been no crime and this investigation is a witch hunt.?
The charge of obstruction of justice doesn't have anything to do with Comey's investigation or what Comey said.
It stems from Trump's actions following his firing of Comey. Special Prosecuter Mueller is interviewing the director of the NSA to start this investigation. If it involves the NSA, that means it involves electronic communication of some sort.
That would imply to me that none of us knows the details of what is being investigated right now. This is a coordinated investigation involving the DOJ and the intel community based on new situations. I think it's too early to assume either guilt or fake charges to destroy careers.
