Very sad.

Pretty incredible and disheartening to watch the Notre Dame cathedral burn almost to the ground live on youtube. That building is almost 900 years old and an amazing architectural feat.

As long as touchdown Jesus wasn't harmed...

DVaz --- 4 years ago -

I wonder if it was intentional arson.

I wouldn't be surprised if the government over there tries to link it to the Yellow Vest movement.

Prolix Raconteur --- 4 years ago -

They've already declared it an accident, even before it was completely extinguished. Seems a bit premature to make that assessment with such finality, considering the media is reporting that workers had already vacated the building when the fire started.

The infamous RC Church should be paying to fix this even though they aren't the owner.

The public's private donations should be paying for the 3 black churches that were burned down by terrorism in Louisiana.

What about the countless ones in Europe vandalized and burned. I'm pretty sure those were goat *******.

I agree with you here Mark. Just so many untrustworthy charities. I know the Salvation Army is corrupt as Hell. Those red buckets around Christmas don't pay for children's toys. Sponsors already do. That money is for bonuses and fancy dinners. I saw it first hand. Plus, they already charge $10 a night to stay there if you are homeless.

The Catholic Church is ridiculously wealthy. Obscenely, actually. Though, they do contribute massive amounts of $$$ properly. I have seen that first hand as well.

I wouldn't donate a dime to an organization that can easily pay for a repair of that magnitude but if people choose to, that's their business. We all get free choice.

witchywoman --- 4 years ago -

Still not a peep out of the Catholic Church about repairing the cathedral. T And surprising. I guess they need to keep their pocket book inract for bailing out all the pedophiles.

txwareagle --- 4 years ago -

The "Catholic Church" does not own ND Cathedral. Also, I'm sure there is some level of insurance on the structure.

Prolix Raconteur --- 4 years ago -

Txwareagle with logic...oh no!?!?!?

We know this. I think having them pay for repairs is an excellent idea. After all, they are the end user.
