Sure didn't take long for them to open up after Lucille's shut down.

Anybody been in there yet? We need reviews.

Mago4058 --- 10 years ago -

My friends went and loved it and the service. So for their Facebook all reviews are 5 stars. We are trying Friday. However, anything is better than Lucile's.

Found this review online YELP:

"Yesterday was the grand opening of Rigo's and I am basing this review on the fact that we did visit on the first day it opened.

First off...I think the decor is pretty much the same as the previous owners had it. Not the typical bright colors but there was some good Spanish music playing in the background. The sign outside that's lit up still says Lucilles but there is a banner underneath that says Rigo's Kitchen.

We were greeted immediately and sat down in a requested booth. We ordered our "go to" items that we base any new Mexican restaurant off that we have never visited before. A margarita, enchiladas and chicken flautas. All three A+!! The enchilada meat was very flavorful and came with refried beans and rice. My chicken flauta plate came with the same but also included sour cream and guacamole. The salsa that came with the chips was a little too mild for our taste...maybe down the road they could offer a second salsa that has a little more kick. But overall I think we found our new Mexican spot!

There might be a few kinks to work out behind the scenes but honestly for having dinner there on their grand opening we couldn't even tell. Service was good and food was awesome. Hopefully they'll offer a happy hour menu soon! There was a bar located directly to the right when you enter. I am a huge fan of the layout of the place. I wish them many many years of success and I'll update my review down the road."

Lucille's was already set up beautifully. There probably not much that Rigo had to do. I'll be going soon.

LeBaller --- 10 years ago -

But is it different then every Mexican place around here?

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

What I have learned about every Mexican food place is that you gotta ask for food the way you like it. No longer am I going to subject myself to the menu when I know how I like my Mexican food. Example: I ask for Atomica sauce at Los Cucos where I find their chili flavors to be less than mild. I ask for "white cheese" in my enchilada to avoid getting Velveeta.

My take on that review- been there, done that toomany times. Sounds dreadfully boring, mundane.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

I hope it's good! If a place has a chance to make it here, it's Mexican! Hahaa

Ninfa's held on longer than any other place in that location!

Are you actually critiquing THEIR review?? LOL

zapper007 --- 10 years ago -

So, the current record is 0 for 3, in about 6 months...lol

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

We are a funny demographic here when it comes to food. Upper middle class cheap people. LOL

Gigix4 --- 10 years ago -

Upper middle class cheap people.

That'd be us! :)

Adding, "Who are picky about our Mexican food!" Bring it Rigo's!!

Gigix4 --- 10 years ago -

I'm guessing they already have their liquor license???

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

Yeah, they'd better make a mean Rita!!

mutton --- 10 years ago -

No liquor license would be a sin!!! lol

RedMulch --- 10 years ago -

they are having a New Years Eve event. Food and "drink" specials starting at 5. If they don't have a license, they may as well shut the door now.

RedMulch --- 10 years ago -

if in fact they do have a license, convinces me even more that it is the same owner as Lucille. Just a change in quisine.

To their credit, not many can do fancy fish. Not many can do fish as a main theme.

I wish them luck.

We also went on opening night. The food was good. The service will be good (several people asked us for our drink order). They were very eager, but not quite organized yet. They will be though... They seem to be on the right track.
The salsa was good, but tasted very much like Rico's.
And I did find the decor nice, but obviously for a seafood restaurant (there was an anchor hanging on the wall and a deep-sea diving rig on the window sill).
I'll give them another shot.

Cigawitz --- 10 years ago -

Ninfa's delivered fajita party packs. Had them on speed dial.

Lundlow Burlap --- 10 years ago -

Ate there last night, very good and service was good. Not the same owners as Lucilles, this is the same guy that was part of the original Rico's.

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

Gets two thumbs up from me! I think this one is going to make it. They serve Atomica (HOT) sauce on request and they keep the chips coming. And GOOOOOD 'Ritas! They just need to get rid of the seaside decor and put up some sombreros and tissue paper cut outs.

Gigix4 --- 10 years ago -

And GOOOOOD 'Ritas!

That's what I wanted to know! Good to hear it.

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

^ I had two drinks (@$2.75 I might add!) and handed the car off to my DDriver. Nicely done, Rigo's!!

MarthaStewart --- 10 years ago -

If its as good as the original Rico's I am all in. My understanding was that Chachi's was started by the original Rico's owner or chef. One would think a better name could have been chosen however the food is the focus.

Went for lunch after reading about it here. We were very pleased. The food was excellent - good quality and good taste. I had the chicken fajita taco and the cheese enchilada. Both tasted great.

I did ask them to heat up the salsa which really made a difference to me (I'm not much for cold salsa.) They were very accommodating and did this without a problem.

The owner was very attentive and all the staff pleasant and effective. We'll go back - thanks for the tip!

Undecided 01 --- 10 years ago -

I used to know all those guys back when it was ninfas! Even remember Rigo as a waiter!

*LOL* --- 10 years ago -

DO they have green sauce? That is a must have for me.

mutton --- 10 years ago -

Me too LOL.

TinktheSprite --- 10 years ago -

Only (good) red sauce on the table. Ask for it? If they have it I bet they will bring it.

Well, if they are former Ninfa's staff like someone said above, maybe they will bring back the old ninfa's green sauce. Give me that, crisp chips, a good rita and I'm pretty happy. Oh, and if they have carnitas that would just be awesome!

Undecided 01 --- 10 years ago -

If anyone knows the old Ninfas crew back then you know all about the Beri Sauce they made by request only...

Btdt --- 10 years ago -

Is it a Sysco restaurant?

TRose --- 10 years ago -

We went there for dinner a few nights ago. The food was great, and the Margaritas were even better. The owner Rigo came over and introduced himself. We told him how pleased we were, so he gave us a free round of margaritas. Will definitely go back, maybe tonight.
