Keep the liberals (Whitmore, Rehak, Herron) off the Humble ISD board.

Voting for Republicans, Independents and conservatives starts 4/24 - 5/2

They can vote at Humble City Hall
Humble ISD Admin Building
Humble ISD instructional support.

Democrats at liberals begin their voting on 5/3 at Kingwood Library.

Karras --- 8 years ago -

The democrat candidates running for Humble ISD are:
Abby Whitmore: Her claim to fame is a proud fundraiser for Planned Parenthood

Chris Herron: He just moved into Humble to run for the board. he has no kids in any of our schools.

Rehak: Successful businessman, but has gone to the darkside and is hanging with the demoncrats

Are we great again yet --- 8 years ago -

Was not Sitton a supporterof the annexation of kingwood back when? Is that what you supported back then, or were you even around?

snowprincess --- 8 years ago -

If you think Humble schools are great you either haven't been in one or lack the ability to recognize greatness.

I have always voted Republican and refuse to vote to keep this board!

Karras --- 8 years ago -

You really think the four stooges the democrats are pushing will make the schools better? Seriously?

JuanSequin --- 8 years ago -

Kingwood is Houston yet part of Humble ISD. Teachers and coaches have been leaving. If I had kiddos in elementary or middle school I would be moving. It's going to get worse.

On a broader point school reform is badly needed. Our high schools babysit kids and prolong adolescence. We need to better teach and prepare kids for highly skilled roles at an earlier age to give them more opportunities. Traditional college is just one path.

Karras --- 8 years ago -

Humble ISD can't make any changes. Those types of changes are driven from Austin

JuanSequin --- 8 years ago -

True, but they can definitely make better decisions to retain and hire high quality mgmt, teachers, and coaches.

fuzz81 --- 8 years ago -

Make Texas blue. Deport all the conservatives.

TXbluebird --- 8 years ago -

Those running against the incumbents are not necessarily Democrats. We do know that the incumbents hired Liz Fagin under very questionable circumstances. We also know that she supports vouchers which financially weakens the public school system. She reorganized the high schools so that there were 8 class periods a day, resulting in furloughs for many teachers (the desired result to save money)and an increased workload for the remaining teachers. Teacher morale was low and turnover high. Many advanced classes were eliminated, making it hard for students to get into more competitive non-state schools. You owe it to yourself to see the documentary about her. For Karras to call the opposition candidates "stooges" shows such a lack of knowledge about them. I know many conservative Republicans who are not supporting the incumbents.

Save your breath, he's just watching now...

Karras --- 8 years ago -

We do know that the incumbents hired Liz Fagin under very questionable circumstances.

We don't know who else applied for the position, so maybe Fagan was the best of the bunch. As of now, she hasn't done anything to warrant tossing the current school board out.

I know more democrats supporting the fantastic four than republicans.

How can you call Rehak a liberal when a big part of his platform is scrutiny of Humble ISD bids and payments to vendors? He questioned why a consultant was worth $34,000 a month, whether or not a $2 million roofing job for KPark HS was the lowest bid (btw, that wasn't for the entire roof), or how the estimated cost for ice cream that was approved at $30,000 was revised to over $200,000. He's just asking questions and getting no answers and thinks we deserve better than secrecy. Those rubber-stamped budget items are paid for with our tax dollars. It appears there are no internal cost controls. I, for one, would like someone on the board not being an automatic yes-man.

Karras --- 8 years ago -

I appreciate Rehak's desire for transparency and questioning the budget.

He would do his campaign a favor by not hanging out with the dems. Word is he is hanging out under their tent down at the polling station. Not a good move.

momma0204 --- 8 years ago -

Not voting for a single incumbent.

The most obvious concern is that they selected, despite major objections from the community, a Superintendent that is a paid speaker for a company pushing privatization of schools. Furthermore, by hiring a person entrenched in controversy and legal issues, they opened our district up to potential problems.

However, their shady behavior during the hiring of Fagen is only one of the issues with them.
- There have been huge changes in budget numbers with refusal to explain
- They have gone back on promises made (including not bringing in more of Fagen's crew from Colorado)

I don't vote by party lines when it comes to HumbleISD Trustees. I vote for the persons that are most suited to our district's needs. I want representatives that are proponents of public school, that operate with transparency, and that will not divert funds elsewhere.

witchywoman --- 8 years ago -

Your topic subject line is straight off of the Tea Party ballot I received in the mail today. I'm so thankful for people like you and the Tea Party. I always bring the Tea Party flyer in to vote with me so I know who not to vote for.

sdanielmcev --- 8 years ago -

I'd vote for any candidate that puts shop classes back in school. A personal note, I have no kids in Humble ISD. Not all kids need to go to college, or should.

Karras --- 8 years ago -

The high schools do have shop classes. Although not mandatory.

I agree, there should be more Votech schools in the area. I would guess 30 to 40% of the school population isn't college material and should find a trade or go into military service so to earn a living and not struggle through life.

Indeed!

The current board hired a superintendent that wants to funnel money away from public schools.

DONT RISK LETTING OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS (and as a result, your property values) DETERIORATE. VOTE THE INCUMBENTS OUT!

April 24, 2017 - May 2, 2017 Early voting period
May 6, 2017 General election date

This is a very important election. Gotv!

That is some funny stuff. Rehak was a huge proponent, in fact, the proposer of doubling KSA assessment fees for a year in order to pay for "the Northpark Beautification Project" so, in his words, it will make the area more conducive to the business environment.

Guess who had a business on Northpark? And, trust me, Rehak NEVER met a government funded revenue stream for his business that he didn't like.

To be fair, that is good business sense.

trailwoodmom --- 8 years ago -

Rehak's business was on a road well off of Northpark, beautifully constructed to fit in with the wooded area. All on his dime. What did he personally have to gain, other than having a nearby road and businesses fit into the "livable forest" theme half as well as his did? Certainly not customers. He didn't have clients driving to his office very often and he most certainly didn't rely on customer traffic to run his business. He ran an advertising/creative services agency, not a carwash or donut shop.

Now that is highly twisted news. His business was not located on Northpark directly nor is it the only business on Northpark. Northpark was beautified, thanks to him, with no change to the assessment.

Most importantly it was not Kingwood Service Association that even funded the beautification. So go back in your corner now and put on your dunce cap for trying to bad mouth someone with fake information.

Trailwoodmom presented the facts. Well said.

a2645039uu --- 8 years ago -

fact, not fake. but thanks for the insults. I now totally see it your way!

MatthewM --- 8 years ago -

Prove your facts. I stand by my post and you deserved the insults for attacking someone unjustly.

whatchamacallit --- 8 years ago -

Voted Early today! Get out there and vote!

Karras --- 8 years ago -

Rehak is a liar who is now threatening lawsuits and using his lame advertisements in the Tribune to try and intimidate his opponents.

His recent ad in the Tribune attacking the Tea party is disgusting. I can't wait to watch the old man out picking up his stupid signs after he loses on election day.

jackass --- 8 years ago -

Elect the person who will spend as little tax money as humanly possible...

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -
