Judas --- 124 days ago -

5 months into his term, though, Donald J. Trump has enthusiastically supported a health care bill that would deeply cut the Medicaid program that has provided treatment to thousands of addicted Americans.

Butterbean --- 124 days ago -

Snake oil trumps opioids.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 124 days ago -

Desperation.

What did Obama do for the opiod problem in his eight years?

wayward1 --- 124 days ago -

What did Obama do for the opiod problem in his eight years??

You see, the president can't take care of the opiod crisis. So, naturally, Obama would never promise that. To do so would make the president look rather foolish.

How does looking at the past administration help now anyway? If Trump said he'd take care of it, than shouldn't the public hold him accountable? If you voted for him, we're all on the same page--take care of the Opoid crisis.

Dorothy Parker --- 124 days ago -

So, Trump said he would do something and when he doesn't, the response is: "but, Obama!"

Is Trump exempt from his own words?

Judas --- 124 days ago -

What a patheticly weak defense the soupman offers. So Trump should only accomplish what others before him have already done.

tinnman --- 124 days ago -

5 months into his term, though, Donald J. Trump has enthusiastically supported a health care bill that would deeply cut the Medicaid program that has provided treatment to thousands of addicted Americans.

And now...for the rest of the story.

In March, Trump agreed to extend a waiver, for specific states, to the Medicaid law that forbade funding to clinics that had an excess of 16 beds The ban was originally enacted in 1965 to discourage investment in "institutions for mental disease". This waiver was originally approved by the previous administration for California, Maryland, Massachusetts and New York and Trump was enthusiastic in singling out that waiver and extending it, without limits. Note that all of the States with the waiver are Blue States and the waiver, again, was left in place with no limits.

However, previous administrations, both Republican and Democrat, chose to ignore this ban and many, many, many treatment centers have suffered due to a lack of Medicaid dollars. What's important to note though, is that Medicaid did not fund drug addiction treatment effectively until Obama enacted the original waiver.

By extending the waiver, Trump has actually helped those seeking opioid drug treatments, not hurt them.

Again..no spin, just facts.

5 months into his term

Golly...you gave him all of five months. That's so nice of you. He's done more in 5 months than Obama did in 8 years.

JustWatching --- 124 days ago -

Again..no spin, just facts.?

Don't confuse the left with facts. Watch them try to deflect now.

wayward1 --- 124 days ago -

He's done more in 5 months than Obama did in 8 years.?

Including becoming best friends with China and Russia. Never thought it could happen so fast.

Please be specific about his accomplishments in the last seven months. If polarizing a nation and fostering a climate of hostility on his accomplishments list? Passing a bill that keeps getting blocked by the supreme court for basically being racist. Alienating friendly nations by tweeting barbed comments to the London mayor. Pulling out of the climate accord, and again alienating friendly nations. Initiating another investigation because he tweeted impulsively about taping.

Lowering the level of civil discourse by tweeting inappropriately? Failing to answer questions candidly, and applying this strategy to all White House Communications.

How about successfully vacationing more than most Americans do in a lifetime on taxpayer dollars?

But, this is about the opioid epidemic, so thoughts on what the prez has done there? I completely agree with his concern and it needs to be addressed.
I believe extending a waiver that initiated by Obama is a great move. High five, for real. So, it appears he is moving on it somewhat.

WASHINGTON -- Gov. Chris Christie, who has made fighting opioid addiction the chief focus of his last year as New Jersey's chief executive, began work Wednesday to address the problem nationally at the request of President Donald Trump.

Christie was joined by Trump and other top administration officials at the first meeting of the White House commission on opioid addiction. Trump, a fellow Republican, has named Christie the chairman of the panel.

First of all. the liberal media slants the greatest majority of their stories against the President. Would you not say that they are continuing to cause friction and division in this country?

Let's look at what the President has done:
1. He is enforcing our immigration laws like he said he would.
2. He increased the budget for our military to be rebuilt.
3. He has cut regulations that hold back our economy.
4. He has submitted a tax plan.
5. He is attempting to replace Obamacare which is failing.

These are just a few of the things I thought of off the top of my head without doing any research.

Now I'm sure the left will attack what I have written with their slant on things and their insults. They fight everything and, in my opinion, are causing a lot of division in this country.

Selective stupidity.

First of all. the liberal media slants the greatest majority of their stories against the President.

Does the conservative media slant stories in favor of the president? Yes. There is a web page that shows how outlets slant and which are considered the most *reliable*. So, then neither media outlet is a reliable source of information? Basically information is spinned by the affiliation. Agree. Are both outlets guilty of spreading unreliable information, yes. Does this cause friction? Yes. Solution: The public should hold news outlets responsible for providing sources, avoiding hyberbole, and loaded words to create an emotional reaction in the reader rather than to inform. Go to various sites and outlets to get news.

I will read your list and verify, and give credit.

Selective stupidity
First, I'm not stupid. But, I can have biases that I try to look out for. Am I perfect, no. But, I'm trying to be better.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 123 days ago -

Which main stream conservative media would this be?
