September 1 no texting and driving in Texas. I hear we won't even get our texts until our cars are parked and those who text us will get a message that we're driving. Is that how it works elsewhere?

Leila --- 122 days ago -

I didn't know about that.

So passengers couldn't text either? I'm all for anything that would drivers off their darn phones but a passenger seems to be a different situation.

I don't know how that would be possible? Who would block or delay the texts? And yes, what about the passengers? Some kind of FCC violation of privacy as well? I think it's like the seat belts law. No one forces you to wear a seat belt. But if caught you pay the fine including if you cause an accident and they prove you were texting I think it's quite obvious those drivers who are texting and driving, don't you? That should be easy to catch

As tink said, it will be a 'caught in the act' deal. There's no blocking. Though, automakers do have a system ready to go if there is a nationwide will for it.

trailwoodmom --- 121 days ago -

I think Tink is right on this one. I'd be willing for a system to be put in place. I heard in California you can get pulled over/ticketed for looking down at your lap. No snide remarks, please. I'm serious. How else do you catch anyone?

TinktheSprite --- 121 days ago -

In Cali, it's total hands-free use. You cannot be on your phone in your hands at all.

Here, they set up traps or "check points" as they like to call them. Just like speeding, they are targeting certain violations. They sit and watch just for seat belt use. I got pulled over because I had my seat belt on "improperly". It was buckled on, but I took the shoulder harness part off my neck and put it behind me. Apparently you can't do that, strangulation or slicing your head off at the neck is preferred.

Text to voice & vice versa. Blue tooth or headphones.

Like it's your business. Aren't you the phony handyman that has been spanked by SSFG? This is her message board after all.

Why wouldn't it be my business? This is a local forum.
And, yes I am a handyman that ssfg couldn't figure out to ask if I had changed my number. I don't use this forum to solicit business.

Nevermind. Judy back in the pokey.
