I hear we won't even get our texts until our cars are parked and those who text us will get a message that we're driving.
I don't know how that would be possible? Who would block or delay the texts? And yes, what about the passengers? Some kind of FCC violation of privacy as well? I think it's like the seat belts law. No one forces you to wear a seat belt. But if caught you pay the fine including if you cause an accident and they prove you were texting I think it's quite obvious those drivers who are texting and driving, don't you? That should be easy to catch
I think Tink is right on this one. I'd be willing for a system to be put in place. I heard in California you can get pulled over/ticketed for looking down at your lap. No snide remarks, please. I'm serious. How else do you catch anyone?
In Cali, it's total hands-free use. You cannot be on your phone in your hands at all.
Here, they set up traps or "check points" as they like to call them. Just like speeding, they are targeting certain violations. They sit and watch just for seat belt use. I got pulled over because I had my seat belt on "improperly". It was buckled on, but I took the shoulder harness part off my neck and put it behind me. Apparently you can't do that, strangulation or slicing your head off at the neck is preferred.
