I pictured blood and mayhem. That is Not the truth. While even one mass shooting is too much, ANY event near a school with a gun, was counted as a "school shooting"

Please read the link. It tells exactly what happened in each incidence considered to make the headlines as a "school shooting ." We have enough real problems, and could really do without the misrepresentation that alarms us further. "18 school shootings in 2018" was a real stretch.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 295 days ago -

The Cliff notes version:

So, there are 18 incidents in which a gun was fired inside a school or on school property.

Three -- Italy, Texas, Kentucky and Florida -- were mass shootings.

But of the other shootings:

Nine involved no deaths and no gunshot injuries.

Two were suicides, with no other injuries (including the one at the closed school).

Three were unintentional (although one caused injuries).

SoupIsGoodFood --- 295 days ago -

Liberal media manipulation.

I'm waiting for them to blame this on Trump and Russian collusion.

Prolix Raconteur --- 295 days ago -

What did You think when you heard there were 18 school shootings?

I knew, not thought, it was more liberal media manipulation and skewing of data.

Markster --- 295 days ago -

What did You think when

I reflected on how pro gun ku posters would turn a blind eye to the increase in gun violence since open carry was passed. I thought..I said this sort of thing would happen and the ridicule was all that came back.

Now the evidence is overwhelming and those same KU posters have no problem denying the correlation. Texas needs to consider a buy back program for guns.

Thats what I thought

Then we are really OKAY here in the US with only 17 dead. Cool.

NOT!

Emperor of Kingwood --- 295 days ago -

Lets see. An out of state shooting rampage is somehow connected to Texas' open carry law. Incredible.

Except that state and federally maintained data on this issue completely contradicts your totally uninformed position.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 295 days ago -

All I'm saying is, this is bad enough, we don't need to lie and make up things to get our attention or manipulate us. That's not the media's job.

And, consider THIS: when you blow stuff out of proportion, and they do, 24/7, (even with weather reports lol) are you not lighting a fire under these sick people who do this to get attention?? They do it for that reason as well. This Cruz kid said on social media, he wanted to be a professional school shooter. Attention. We need to re-think that we are giving it to them and why.

Would there be all these shootings if we had never heard of the first ones?? Food for thought.

Butterbean --- 295 days ago -

Not my dead kid.

I don't care.

Do something.

What does that have to do with open carry?

Markster --- 295 days ago -

What does that have to do with open carry?

The number of shootings since before and now. Its gone up. Said so when it (open carry) was passed. I think "we the people" need to consider re-regulating, gun laws.

Blind eye bob. Regarding riffles.
What do the letters AR mean on an AR-whatever? Why do private citizens need these?

Saturn --- 295 days ago -

What do the letters AR mean on an AR-whatever

AR is for "Armalite Rifle", who developed the rifle ... not Assault Rifle.

As an Army vet, I would think you'd know that.

I bet most of those shooters also had milk and cheese in their refrigerator.

Joe Blow --- 294 days ago -

Yep, the pubie 'tude.

Sad.

BuiltinTX70 --- 294 days ago -

I thought it sounded fishy, so I fact checked it like I do most things.

And I'll tell ya, three mass shootings in 2018 is A LOT.

It's only February.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 294 days ago -

Yes agreed, but it?s NOT 18.

Time to realize this issue is not a single issue problem. Using a Gun is the end result of many actions that take place first. Why did his guardians allow a mentally ill kid to have a gun? Why didn?t the FBI act on several tips that this kid might be a problem? What was he doing and feeding his brain?? Did anyone know about his social media posts close to him? Then there?s the media and their exploitation of these events. And yes there?s guns, after all the rest happened first.

BuiltinTX70 --- 294 days ago -

Why didn't the local police, who visited something like 20x, not do anything? Aren't they the first line of defense?

The FBI missed it for sure but in the end.....were they going to do anything?

The real answer is, could they? It seemed everyone knew, but nothing was done.

And we have heard that story before - see Florida night club shooting.

Adults have rights. The police can't just come in and violate your civil rights just because someone says your acting weird.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 294 days ago -

Did you know or have you noticed, there have been MORE than a dozen local threats in our own Houston schools since the Florida shooting?? More than a dozen.

Tell me Media dosent matter

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 294 days ago -

And breaking news right now, A Needville boy has been apprehended and detained for posting a threat and warning that kids should not come to school tomorrow...

Well, at least someone DID something, and now he's detained. Not so hard.

Markster --- 294 days ago -

As an Army vet, I would think you'd know that.

Im old school Field Artillery, M110A2. The M16 was just something to carry around. Notice I didn't say anything about carrying an AR?

Saturn --- 294 days ago -

Notice I didn't say anything about carrying an AR?

But you asked what does "AR" mean and I told you.

I went in the service in 68' and knew what an AR-16 was and what the "AR" meant.

Although your MOS was Artillery, didn't the Army teach you what "AR" meant?

Markster --- 294 days ago -

Although your MOS was Artillery, didn't the Army teach you what "AR" meant?

IDK, maybe bc AR didnt mean anything to Field Artillery guys. They trained us in Artillery. Go figure

Saturn --- 294 days ago -

I knew a lot of guys in Army artillery and they all carried AR-16''s in nam'.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 294 days ago -

"Adults have rights"

That's another thing I'd change. No one under 21 should be able to buy a gun. They let kids drive at 16 too, and they have 3X the accidents. Sounds like a great idea! We have no guts in this country to make anyone unhappy even when it makes sense, even when we know better.

What does this shooting have to do with the open carry law? Maybe if someone there had been armed the shooter might have been killed right away.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 294 days ago -

Maybe if someone there had been armed the shooter might have been killed right away.

That wouldn't require open carry.

jackass --- 294 days ago -

You all just need to admit that you don?t really care about the shootings, and that you?re just trying to stick it to your political adversaries....you just feign concern until the news fades and then repeat the process next time.

Spare me your lectures on ?you don?t know what I?m thinking.? It?s obvious.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 294 days ago -

Well JA....who are you to say that? You know how we all feel?? Good to know. Unfortunately, that dosent help either. Lol

jackass --- 294 days ago -

It?s not designed to help. Your callous attitude says it all.

Again, spare me the lecture and go stare in the mirror for a while.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 294 days ago -

Why don't you do that? Since you're in the upper echelon of all knowing and all caring people. Lol

Judge jackass.

jackass --- 294 days ago -

I like the sound of that...lol

jackass --- 294 days ago -

You can?t deny that it?s become simply fodder for arguing on the internet...something will come up in a couple days that will change the focus again and we can all pretend like that matters for a while...ad nauseum

fuzz81 --- 294 days ago -

She could care less about the issue. Just another shill saying what she?s told to say. Don?t bother.

Well stop whining and give some solutions!!

BuiltinTX70 --- 294 days ago -

Adults have rights. The police can't just come in and violate your civil rights just because someone says your acting weird.

My exact point. I don't think law enforcement, including the FBI, could have done anything.

BuiltinTX70 --- 294 days ago -

Trump seemed to blame Russia collusion on this, yes?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 294 days ago -

Right. If a person has not violated the law, then law enforcement can do nothing. The only thing that can happen is law enforcement can place a 72 hour mental patient (Texas) hold on someone if they are a danger to themselves or others.

Also, a persons mental health record is not searchable by law enforcement (HIPPA).
