It's a start. It's time.

CNN- (excerpt from town hall meeting)

"Rubio said he would support legislation to prevent an 18-year-old from buying a rifle and that he is reconsidering his support for large-capacity magazines. He also broke with Trump on arming schoolteachers and vouched for a system where potentially unstable people could temporarily lose their access to firearms.
"I absolutely believe that in this country if you are 18 years of age, you should not be able to buy a rifle, and I will support a law that takes that right away," Rubio said at CNN's town hall in Florida."

Now, we must hold them to it. He signed a pledge but you know, politicians...

Good for him! That took guts-

Rubio supports changing gun ownership law to 21

I'm good with that.

fuzz81 --- 211 days ago -

But not banning bump stocks and high capacity magazines?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 211 days ago -

While I'm fine with it, I don't see much impact.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 211 days ago -

It's a great start!

Prolix Raconteur --- 211 days ago -

While I'm fine with it, I don't see much impact.

Exactly. Same with bump stocks. I don't care if they ban them and it will have little to no effect on shootings.

Same goes for high cap magazines. It takes literally a second for a practiced gun user to change out a magazine. So banning 20 round mags just means you have to swap out two 10 round mags. Won't change much but if that's what makes people feel good...

Emperor of Kingwood --- 211 days ago -

but if that's what makes people feel good...

That's the problem. We have "feel good" over substance.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 211 days ago -

And yet these mass shootings all involve this type of rifle!

voice of reason --- 211 days ago -

It's a start. It's time.

it's a slowwww start and it's long overdue.

a.t.d. imageine that! amen.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 211 days ago -

The slow start is the fault of our elected representatives who haven?t done anything since Columbine. Why?
And even now, the FBI let the last shooting happen. All we have to do is something! Teens have no business with a gun. AND the adults around them allowed it. Just like the Cruz kid.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 211 days ago -

While I'm fine with it, I don't see much impact. ?

We haven?t done a darn thing yet. How do you know there will be no impact? I also think that the minute they do their public threats, they need automatic jail time, like Needville did. Sends the correct message, gets them off the street and creates a record and trail for the future.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 211 days ago -

And yet these mass shootings all involve this type of rifle!

Its about the psychology of that type of rifle, not its performance.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 211 days ago -

I also think that the minute they do their public threats, they need automatic jail time, like Needville did.

I don't have any problem with that and they're on solid legal ground with it.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 211 days ago -

How do you know there will be no impact?

Because its not a gun problem, its a people problem.

Prolix Raconteur --- 211 days ago -

The worst school shooting ever was committed with a handgun (Virginia Tech).

Let Logic Prevail --- 211 days ago -

Good for him! That took guts-?

He's doing it for selfish reasons. He's arming himself for his next presidential run.

The GOP clearly will be having a primary run for the 2020 Presidential election....hence his little dance along with Romney's.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 211 days ago -

He's doing it for selfish reasons. He's arming himself for his next presidential run.

I agree with that. He's an establishment politician only interested in furthering his own political career.

Prolix Raconteur --- 211 days ago -

Trump's damned if he acts or doesn't act apparently. He'd be ridiculed for inaction and it seems when he acts it doesn't count either.

Let Logic Prevail --- 211 days ago -

its a people problem.?

Yes, it's a problem with the people who won't change the laws to reflect common sense and safety.

Let Logic Prevail --- 211 days ago -

Oh, it counts alright. It ups his score on the stupidity meter. Reference his wanting to arm educators.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 211 days ago -

Yes, it's a problem with the people who won't change the laws to reflect common sense and safety.

We've had semi automatic rifles for over 100 hundred years. School shootings are a new phenomenon. What changed? Hint, it wasn't the gun.

Prolix Raconteur --- 211 days ago -

Reference his wanting to arm educators.

There are literally dozens of school districts that have enacted this very policy since Sandy Hook, albeit secretly without a lot of fanfare. The signs around the schools say that personnel are armed, not the magic, feel-good "Gun Free Zone". Which school do you think an attacker will choose?

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 211 days ago -

Emp, I think it's BOTH a people problem and a gun availability issue for young people. Most adults with guns don't murder people. But teens shouldn't have them readily available. The other "people" issue isn't just the shooter. It's people who allow mentally ill people to have guns in their midst, it's people who don't report threats, it's the law enforcement who do nothing, it's our political and governmental procedures that we have set up that literally take an act of congress to get anything done. yes people are a big issue.

Let Logic Prevail --- 211 days ago -

You are right. Things change. Including access to guns.

The way we find solutions must also change. Things are not working the way things are. I'd hope the gun lovers would agree with that.

If it were up to me, I'd change the 2nd Amendment.

DVaz --- 211 days ago -

There have only been TWO mass shootings in America since 1950 which were not in "Gun-free" zones.

Wrap your mind around that.

fuzz81 --- 211 days ago -

Yet there have been 18 firearms discharged at a school in 2018. Your point is moot.

A sign does about as much as thoughts and prayers. Nothing.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 211 days ago -

I think we should ask Hollywood elites to fund safety and security upgrades to our schools! It could help make up for the garbage they put out there. And they are all out calling for changes to be made. They could actually be a part of that change.. Wouldn't it be nice if they decided to take the violence, gore, porn, and brutality down a notch??

fuzz81 --- 211 days ago -

Actually we should ask republican dullards to ditch their guns instead. It would help to make up for the garbage that they put out there, and the stain they?ve left on society.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 211 days ago -

You're ok with the bloody violence coming out of Hollywood??

Laughable.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 211 days ago -

Things change. Including access to guns.

Which is more restrictive now than 100 years ago.

fuzz81 --- 211 days ago -

Fictional TV and movies aren?t the problem.

You?re the laughable joke, SSFG. Turn off fox for a while, and go read a book or something.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 211 days ago -

If it were up to me, I'd change the 2nd Amendment.

You expect criminals to follow the law?

fuzz81 --- 211 days ago -

It works in every other more civilized country.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 211 days ago -

bloody violence coming out of Hollywood??

There's a large body of work on the negative effects of on screen and computer game violence.

fuzz81 --- 211 days ago -

The NRA ensured there is no body of work on the effects of easy access to guns.

DVaz --- 211 days ago -

Yet there have been 18 firearms discharged at a school in 2018. Your point is moot.

No, Mr. Potato Head! It shows that armed good guys stop this insanity.

DVaz --- 211 days ago -

You?re the laughable joke, SSFG.

Gonna Ice Fuzzy for directly insulting you, SiFi?

fuzz81 --- 211 days ago -

Lol... yeah, you keep telling yourself that
