We can have them in Kingwood? What subdivisions allow them? I'd like to get some chickens. Do you think the same subdivision would allow them?

JustWatching --- 7 years ago -

Read you HOA rules and that will tell you what you can and can't do.

Ashes --- 7 years ago -

Our neighbors across the street have chickens. And around the corner a family has a little pig.

JustWatching --- 7 years ago -

You have to be careful just because the neighbors do it doesn't make it right. Check with your HOA to get the okay. I would also get it in writing if they say it is okay unless it specifically says you can in your HOA rules. If not you could find yourself on the wrong end of a lawsuit. The courts in Texas usually will side with an HOA, so you need to be careful. I served as President of my HOA for three years, so I have a little experience with it.

Zapper009 --- 7 years ago -

So, JW - you are one of the HOA Nazi's with the clipboard - we see walking, and taking notes in the area...lol

Actually, it was years ago and it was a thankless and very time consuming unpaid job because of people like you.

We hired a company to do the inspections and deed restriction enforcement. I worked many hours a week on it and would not do it again. Rather than calling your HOA board members Nazi's why don't you help them by following the rules. Doing so keeps you home's value up (that's why you have HOA rules).

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 7 years ago -

No, you can't. This one tells major whoppers. LOL

Butterbean --- 7 years ago -

There are a couple of areas along Mills Branch that do not fall under the Kingwood umbrella. Acorn, Long Leaf, and Dunham Rd. come to mind.

Those areas are legal home to many animals. All streets are public domain. People can exercise their animals on any street without penalty.

Ashes --- 7 years ago -

It's obvious that HOA will not allow it. My neighbors across the street got lucky, and have great neighbors who don't mind their chickens.

The first week we got our mini horse.. We had a neighbor call on us just complaining that we have a horse. So we got a letter.

The neighbors called a second time since they saw that we didn't get rid of the horse.. So animal control came out, and we showed them the papers and they told us that we can keep the horse. Animal control also called the people who complained, and told them there is nothing they can do about it.

So a week later they called animal control again and lied and said they got horse poop on their hands, and said the barn wasn't well ventilated. So animal control finally decided to take a look at the horse and backyard. I asked them to the first time they came out. They said everything looked great. They noticed our horse poops in one spot, nowhere near the fence, and that I keep the yard very clean.. And that the barn was well ventilated bc it has a huge opening on the front and openings on the sides. So that gave us the hint that it's one of the neighbors behind us, bc over the fence they can't see the front of the barn or the sides.

We haven't had any more calls. I guess they ran out of lies. If you have nosey neighbors.. Make sure they are OK with the chickens.

SSFG Do you have to comment under literally EVERYTHING I write? You have issues. You are just jealous and bored.

The HOA controls common areas and have the right to enforce their rules. If they take you to court and you lose (which happens the greatest majority of times) then you also have to pay their court costs. When you bought your house you signed that you would abide by the HOA rules.

JW, I am well aware of how deed restrictions work and what mine are which is why I asked what Kingwood subdivision Ashes lived in.

Ashes either doesn't live in KW or is lying about having a horse.

We have lived in Woodspring Forest for almost 7 years. He is registered as a therapy horse.. Only reason why we can keep him.

esquala --- 7 years ago -

Can we get back on the subject of therapy chickens and cockroaches?

My therapy cockroaches present no problem to the HOA because IT SAYS RIGHT HERE IN MY CONTRACT they're allowed. I'll show you all a pic to prove I'm not lying.

Also, as someone pointed out, all therapy animals, whether mammal, insect, reptilian, or what have you, must be certified. My cockroaches are certified with the state of TX to comfort people who are being viciously hounded by mean mods on the internets.

These "comfort roaches", as they're called, really do the trick.

And I'm not horsing around.

Ashes --- 7 years ago -

I feel sorry for you. You don't seem like you are a very happy person. Everyone else loves our horse. But most importantly we love our horse.

mutton --- 7 years ago -

If registered as a therapy animal do they have to be also working? Do you have to prove as such?

Judas --- 7 years ago -

Is Esquala SSFG's alt?

Mutt, what kind of illegal animal are you trying to smuggle into Kingwood? LOL

mutton --- 7 years ago -

Lol Judas!

Of course not. It's pure entertainment AND she gets her drama fix. Win/win. :)

My profile pic must be fake too. A fake picture of my house and horse and daughter and double jogging stroller on the right hand side in front of the garage. Lol

Me too! I think with Ashley, it go BIG or go home. Maybe that's why she was kicked off of KDC???

No I just don't like when someone calls me a liar. That is the one thing I will not tolerate.

Ashes --- 7 years ago -

I don't know how to make them smaller. They aren't as big on my phone or Facebook. So IDK.

Ashes --- 7 years ago -

Maybe that's why she was kicked off of KDC???

No it was bc I was sharing Bible scriptures, which a few people loved, and I made a few friends over there, and we shared our experiences with God. I even got a PM from a nice person telling me they can't believe I would get kicked off of KDC over posting Bible verses. Oh well that is how the world treats Christians.

Leila --- 7 years ago -

So I don't understand. I thought you were going to use your horse for parties?

Did you just tell a big fib that it was a therapy animal to be able to
keep a horse in your yard?
What kind of therapy
does this horse do? I think I smell a little horse manure here.

Aren't you moving to a new house?
I can't wait for the new neighbors to see a horse moving in with the sofa. lol

Ashes --- 7 years ago -

He's a therapy horse and we want to do pony parties with him as well. That is not a crime. No need for further explanation. It's not hard to understand. Everyone says what a cute and great idea it is. Doesn't matter what a few nuts on this website think. You can try to judge me all you want over such a petty thing. It's sad how hateful people are. And honestly it's really nobody's business why he is registered as a therapy horse. We also volunteer at a place off of Greens Road. They have 10 horses and it's therapy for disabled children/adults. Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Down Syndrome, Epilepsy etc. I'm sure someone on here will turn that into something wrong too. Just a bunch of nosey bored people trying to make someone look bad. That's all this is. I hope you all don't treat people in real life this way. It's awful.
