Has anyone spoken to her? Any info on this woman? I approached her at Whataburger and asked if she wanted any food. She was nice, but declined. I chatted with her briefly. Ever since, I can't help but feel like I need to help her. I looked for her this weekend and she was gone.

Yes. She had a shelter set up. A person at Whataburger said she had been there a couple of weeks. 

Oh yes, I saw that, sort of in the parking lot over by the gas station? I figured it was someone backpacking through, stopped for the night. If you see her again, let me know and I will help you help her, if we can.

Not sure if you just don't like how I worded it or what your issue is but really, save it for another thread.

I was just stating that I think it would pose a certain set of issues for a woman, that a man wouldn't have to deal with. Is that better for you? Do you deny that to be the case?

Homeless women do have a lot of issues to deal with that homeless men do not. Let me know if you see her and I will also try to help her out.

Women's shelters actually help the woman. Men's shelters are just bunk houses with a shower. Please don't compare the situations if you don't know what it's like to be in that situation. Women have massive resources available, while homeless men get no help.

if you're worried about her, go there, yourself, and ask her- she's probably be more comfortable talking to a woman-

WOW! I wish every man could have the monthly "curse" for one day. I think they would not fair well. They need to have cramps and all.

Thought I would report in that I saw on my facebook page where the food drive volunteers working at Lone Star College made sure this lady had food today, maybe longer. Wonderful young people.

She has been at or near Exxon for several months, not weeks, and does not appear to be panhandling.

If you choose to help her, please be respectful. 

I saw her in the Exxon parking lot. She had a umbrella set up by her chair.

So many homeless people have mental illness and resist help. They have often been taken advantage of and do not trust shelters. It is a shame that people end up in this situation in a country with as many resources as ours, but the treatment of the homeless and mentally ill are very complex.

Mental illness and addiction are very common in the homeless, but most are not. Poverty is by far the main reason. Many just get behind in rent for one reason or another, and just leave their home before they get evicted. For most this is a transitory phase and spend a few months or so homeless. Many women who are homeless are leaving abusive relationships. But the one thing I did learn, working with them, was they are all individuals.

Very nice to see the concern on here for this woman. giving aide to individuals is always an individual decision - I have no judgment for that either way - But if you do give her something - do me a favor and look her in the eye, ask her for her name, and call her by it. I have found this to be a very powerful thing to do.

It may be the same lady that was camping out at Big Lots in Porter. She had a folding chair and a tent type cover, over her. She didn't want any kind of help. I asked and several neighbors I know, also asked. 

She is in good hands. My facebook poster will not let this slide.
