WatchOut --- 7 years ago -

This in Tennessee. Killer on the run.

Kyobungee --- 7 years ago -

Just need to remove all guns.
No one really needs them.
That's why we pay the police.
If they would protect us instead of shooting innocent people, we would all be better off.

jackass --- 7 years ago -

It?s not their job to protect you...

Kyobungee --- 7 years ago -

The duties of a police officer, also known as a law enforcement officer, focus on protecting people and property. They patrol the areas they are assigned, which sometimes include entire jurisdictions, respond to calls, enforce laws, make arrests, issue citations, and occasionally testify in court cases.

Sideboom --- 7 years ago -

I will protect myself and anyone around while you call and wait on the law

Prolix Raconteur --- 7 years ago -

Just need to remove all guns.

All 400 million of them in the US? I'm sure all those criminals will march right down and turn theirs in as soon as that law is passed, right?

Not KU --- 7 years ago -

8 confirmed dead in Santa Fe, Tx
Yes another school shooting. Shooter is alive and captured.

No need for thoughts and prayers. We need gun regulation. We need law enforcement standing guard at schools.

Myra801 --- 7 years ago -

All that will do is raise your taxes and HOA?s.

Myra801 --- 7 years ago -

Daycare, public schools, nursing homes: the life cycle of the poor.

Private nannies or stay-at-home parents, private school, private at-home elderly care: the life cycle of the "other half".

The second option offers more protection against life's ugly realities.

Well then... that kinda sucks doesn't it :(

If it saves your kids life. Isn't that a worth while expense?

Not KU --- 7 years ago -

Its time to engage Gov Abbott and Congressmen Ted Poe.

jackass --- 7 years ago -

It won?t. Shooter will just target the cop first.

yes

Myra801 --- 7 years ago -

The cop will have eyes and be armed you know and most likely trained. We will save the BLIND, UNARMED, UNTRAINED guards for when we run out the other ones.

Your statement was silly.

jackass --- 7 years ago -

Your comment is naive.

Prolix Raconteur --- 7 years ago -

Ted Poe retired.

Myra801 --- 7 years ago -

Your comment is naive.?
Naive about what?

A guard will not only serve as a deterrent just like they historically always have hence the wide use of them but a guard will also have a chance to defend the area they are guarding just like they always have.

Are you saying guards don't help the situation because you might want to tell the militaries of the world that factoid; they are wasting a LOT of money.

And so are all the banks of the world and all the courthouses of the world and all the....well you get my point.

We?re talking schools here. An armed guard isn?t going to stop an insane killer any more than banning assault weapons will. Shootings happen in courthouses, banks and military bases as well. It?s not about guns or guards, it?s about a culture of violence. And you can?t stop it with guns.

Myra801 --- 7 years ago -

I disagree Jackass, but I respect that you honestly feel it wouldn't help the situation.

DVaz --- 7 years ago -

Almost every school shooter was on psychotropic drugs. Coincidence? I don't think so. Where were all these shootings up until Columbine? Oh yeah, psychotropic drug prescriptions skyrocketed in the 90's.

You liberals should be blaming Big Pharma & bad parenting.

There is no way you or anyone can with certainty say that having law enforcement on guard would not save lives.

Consider the following:
Law enforcement is currently on the scene (in large numbers) and no one is trying to commit further casualties. This is the case over and again after these sort of scenarios.

So the question becomes. How much law enforcement would be required to do the job in a pro-active measure? Cost is the last of concerns.

DVaz --- 7 years ago -

I've got plenty of skilled shooting veteran friends who would love to be able to protect children at schools from these nut job shooters. It's common sense. Courts are filled with angry, violent, & vengeful criminals daily. Those armed bailiffs and metal detectors sure do seem to work...

NO MORE GUNS!

Cops have protective gear. Bullet proof vests, and the ability to return fire.

NO NO NO. No need for someone with PTSD having a flash back and shooting up kids. Trained active duty law enforcement. Not teachers, not former military with out being vetted as a law enforcement official. Under Law enforcement supervision and authority. No one needs 2nd best. Our kids deserve the best.
Argue that

Excuse me, Joe Blow, but you don't know me even if you think you do. You sent me a message that you knew me and I asked you two questions that you did not answer. I do not know you sir and I do not want to. Please leave me alone. And, do not call me "baby"! That is insulting, I am over 50 years old and am disgusted by your over familiar tone. Please leave me alone. I assure you that whomever you think I am... I am not!

Hmmm...veterans are kind of a mixed bag in terms of stability...I have quite a few in my extended family:(

How did your AC thing work out, DVAZ, were you able to find the issue?

sorry...not the right thread but i was wondering...

LOL creepy job blow stalking the new gal. Damn!?!

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 7 years ago -

FYI, there was a policeman there, and he was shot. He's in critical condition- this kid got his father's guns, so I don't know what the solution is-so very terrible.

Prolix Raconteur --- 7 years ago -

How about severe penalties/jail time for owners of guns who don't secure them and they end up being used in a crime. That would motivate people to make sure they aren't accessible to kids or whoever else. I've got guns and every one of them is in a safe.

Same should apply to parents who don't secure guns and one of their own kids ends up killing themselves or another kid. Put them in jail.

"No need for thoughts and prayers"

Maybe you should consider that this is called showing SUPPORT for people who have a dead child right now. Many want and appreciate this. Don't diminish it bc you aren't in that position. This issue is not just a political football. There is real and palpable gut wrenching grief right now, trauma and devastation which require emotional support.

I think that would be a good start though I think there would be some stiff opposition to that.

So funny how we can get regulations for dogs on airplanes nearly overnight but we can't keep our own kids safe.

Job? Nice try. Don't convert me to the bible.

Oh! I thought gun owners were responsible. Charge the father also.

Buy back the guns. Outlaw guns.

If we outlaw guns then only outlaws will have guns. I don't know about you but I don't want to give up my 2nd amendment.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 7 years ago -

I don't want to give up my guns, either. But this kid used his father's weapons. If we're to be trusted with this freedom, there has to be personal responsibility.
