Actually two separate accidents. First was at Kimgwood and West lake. The second, probably caused by the first was in the trees past Fudruckers. They put crime scene tape there so it must be the fatality. Everyone was cutting through HEB to avoid the first one so that's why I believe it caused the second one.
According to HPD at the scene, a lady and young boy in a tan sedan were clipped from behind by a vehicle traveling at excessive speed. The collision forced the tan sedan off the road into the trees. The lady died at the scene. Speeding suspect(s) have been detained. So unnecessary
All four lanes of Kingwood Drive will be shut down for hours as Houston Police Department personnel continue to investigate a fatal two-vehicle traffic accident.
According to reports from the scene, a car reportedly tried to change lanes, clipping the rear end of the vehicle in front of it. This caused the vehicle that was struck from behind to lose control and spin into the median, striking several trees.
"The accident killed an elderly woman driving the vehicle which was struck by the car attempting to change lanes," according to authorities at the scene.
A child riding in the victim's vehicle was injured and transported to a hospital. The child is expected to survive, sources say.
Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing. More information will be provide when available.
If speed or unsafe driving was involved this was no "accident". I am so sick of innocent people being killed and the killer claims he accidentally killed them. So horrible for the child who witnessed the death of his grandmother.
I just came back from HEB. It is still closed off. HEB was empty when it would normally be packed. I felt sick to my stomach just seeing the official vehicles still investigating.
The HEB employees were saying it appeared to be teenagers that hit the car in front of them. Not sure if that is reliable, when I get a loaner car I am pretty sure there is an age minimum.
A heartbreaking waste of life that did not need to happen on a beautiful day. My condolences tho the loved ones getting devastating news and prayers to the child for both physical and emotional healing.
I had some errands in and around today and the traffic has been just crazy everywhere!
They had a right lane closed westbound on North Park near Woodland Hill earlier so crews could remove a dead tree. Loop 494 was closed off at Porter FD - seems a 18 wheeler tried to turn and ended up stuck.
I ain't getting out on the roads again today ... and may not tomorrow. Too many crazy people.
