They have one heck of a good marketing team there. Releasing ONE flavor at a time, big press releases and news coverage to build anticipation and desire.

And, this way the get their feelers out to see what kind of response they get before mass producing a million favors all at once that might not get sold.

Is it working on you?? I have to admit, that Homemade vanilla sound pretty good right now. LOL

Vanilla is being "released" first, then Dutch chocolate .

Prolix Raconteur --- 9 years ago -

You know Homemade Vanilla would have to be released first. Nectar of the gods and all that.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

If vanilla is the food of the gods, chocolate is keeping the Angels alive.

sheddy --- 9 years ago -

I only buy mooooolenium and I want to thank every one who buys those Plain Jane flavors, so Blue Bell can continue to pack every bite full with nuts and chocolate and charge me the same price!

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

Those plain Jane flavors are still the bed rock of sales revenues. Vanilla is still the best selling flavor!

Some things are just Classic!

a845652uu --- 9 years ago -

I can't wait. It's not here yet.

Texvette --- 9 years ago -

It's a shame they weren't so smart to address the listeria issue when they became aware of it. This resulted in loss of lives and a huge smear on what was a great reputation.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

I can only imagine the store freezer shelves will be quickly made empty after they go back on sale.

a845652uu --- 9 years ago -

Let's hope they solved their problems for sure and we don't all end up dead.

steinhoister2016 --- 9 years ago -

I don't know, once a product has killed someone I tend to look for a new brand...maybe that's just me.

a845652uu --- 9 years ago -

They knew they had issues but continued to chase the almighty dollar even after someone was killed. I think I will boycott them after all. I have been using Breyers and I think they are decent.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

BB will be just fine.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

There are several good ice creams out there. I've been getting the SO DELICIOUS coconut milk stuff. No dairy or soy, and in the dark chocolate, no sugar! It's $6.00 a pint though.

Tell me more! is it in vanilla?

Ashley28 --- 9 years ago -

Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream ... Oh how I miss you ... I will dream of you as I'm running.

ladybeachbum --- 9 years ago -

I never really cared if I had BB so it is no big deal to me. I probably won't get excited about Italian Creme Cake flavor and I love it. Trust is a hard thing to regain when lives are lost.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

It's all made with coconut milk. They have a few flavor to pick from. Their vanilla is still made from coconut milk. :). The chocolate is to die for. There are also a couple other brands in the coconut milk market with cookie dough and stuff like that. All very expensive. But healthy and satisfies the ice cream craving. They have ice cream sandwiches and bars too.

FNHO --- 9 years ago -

they're not so smart they could prevent being closed for months.

This rollout isn't their idea. Smart would be all brands on all shelves ASAP.

Donkey Hodie --- 9 years ago -

It's not smart marketing, it's how they are set up to produce it. Have you ever taken their tour? They can only make one flavor of ice cream at a time.

If you think it's smart marketing, then I have a bridge to sell you.

needsleep --- 9 years ago -

BB is testing every lot of product for Listeria Mono prior to shipping and selling to consumers. They are manufacturing the product at the plant where they had the least amount violations. It takes lots time, money, on site storage to test and hold product and they have to have enough product to be distributed back into the market. 1 line of product is manageable. It's about bringing consumer confidence up and making sure they have a safe product.

They never have only one flavor at a time in the stores Donkey. I can definitely see only MAKING one flavor at a time, and I didn't know that they do it that way. Never been to the plant. But now, there is only going to be one flavor available for a while. Also, couldn't they have made, say 3 flavors and hold them til they can release them together?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

Look at Apple phones- they hype it for a year- by the time the new phone comes out, there are customers lined up around the block-

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

Same with (Nike?) it's hyped the same way- people are killed over them-

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

Well, the Chronicle thought the same thing I did, calling the release of the ice cream "a tease" on their customers.

"Houston Chronicle-As a part of its campaign to tease its devoted customers, Blue Bell Ice Cream has announced the second of its flavors to return to the market on Aug. 31.
Fans of Dutch Chocolate, you have less than week until you get to satisfy that craving.
The Brenham brand announced its Monday that its Homemade Vanilla will be the first out of the gate when the frozen treat returns to stores next week."

Zapper009 --- 9 years ago -

We do not buy/use Blue Bell- have found Kroger's own brand to be great!!!

FANCY PANTS --- 9 years ago -

Blue Bell has the best flavor. The store brands do not compare and the savings is not enough to keep me from buying Blue Bell.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

We do not use Blue Bell

Silly question............ But how does one "use" Blue Bell?

Zapper009 --- 9 years ago -

The store brands do not compare

You are definitely correct - Krogers has a more natural flavor...

Zapper009 --- 9 years ago -

Silly question............ But how does one "use" Blue Bell?

Not a silly question - a STOOPID question...that is all...lol

FNHO --- 9 years ago -

If you think it's smart marketing, then I have a bridge to sell you.

You're confusing them.

Yes they are as they kept sales $$$ rolling in after they already knew about lysteria killing people!

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Guess what? The sales $$$ are really going to start rolling in now!!!

Miss Understanding --- 9 years ago -

From all the lunatics who think shoving ice cream down their fat neglected faces is more important than living or dying. Now that is funny!!

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

Miss Understanding, you sure have a way about you that isn't very understanding. LOL

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Such hate from Miss Understood

Miss Understanding --- 9 years ago -

Such weirdness to be all gun ho for a company that has killed people due to their neglectfullness of proper procedures to keep people safe. Said company was well aware of what they were doing to their customers yet kept doing it in silence hoping they wouldn't get caught. You all support a company such as this? Very odd and off kilter thinking.

Ashley28 --- 9 years ago -

I run 8 miles a day pushing a double stroller..I can eat all the ice cream I want :P :)

Miss Understanding --- 9 years ago -

Yes you can, by all means go for it! Those that sit on here all day aren't getting that kind of exercise tho and you are the exception. I would advise against BB though based on their track record of continuing to produce bad product at the same time they were killing off customers!

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

You're like a broken record with this, Miss Understood.

We get it. You LOATHE Blue Bell.

Miss Understanding --- 9 years ago -

Of course I do. They were willingly kiling their customers in exchange for profits. Only a total idiot would condone that type of behavior from any company.

Same goes for the auto manufacturers that knew they had issues but didn't take care of them!
