Anyone know about the double murder of a couple in Kings River. All I know is the house is on Arbor Bend Ct. Police have street and 2- story house tapped and blocked off. Crazy!

Polly Ester --- 10 years ago -

Where is Kings River?

bazinga --- 10 years ago -

info on atascocita.com

MamainKW --- 10 years ago -

Kingwood TX, by Lake Houston off of West Lake Houston PWY.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

Any details yet?

RedMulch --- 10 years ago -

Oh my. Prayers for they and their family

idontplaynice --- 10 years ago -

That's horrible.

The Awe Inspiring JoelleDrees (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

That is terrible!

Dorothy Parker --- 10 years ago -

I hope this story isn't true. I can't find anything online about it. Being at least three hours old, surely some news outlet would have reported it by now.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

There was nothing on the 6 o clock news- I watched for it-

MamainKW --- 10 years ago -

Unfortunately it's very true. My husband said that it depends on how quite Harris Co is keeping it. Also if it was over the radio the news stations are late to getting the coverage. All we know is that is was an older couple and the granddaughter found them today. They also are saying that it looks like the murder happen a few days ago due to the scene and the condition of the bodies. I'm sure it will make the news either at 10:00 or tomorrow. I haven't seen any Media vehicles so far. Only police cars.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating after two people were found dead inside their home in the Atascocita area Saturday.

Investigators said Don, 83, and Reba Rentz 80, were last seen alive Thursday afternoon.

Officials said a neighbor checked on the couple at their home in the 6700 block of Pacific Crest Court in the King River Village neighborhood after a request from their children who live out of town.

Neighbors contacted the Harris County Sheriff's Office after knocking on the door and and receiving no response. Witnesses also told authorities that the front door was open.

Investigators said they found two bodies in the house that had suffered traumatic injuries.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the homicide unit at the Harris County Sheriff's Office at 713-967-5810 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

So sad to hear it's true! :(

I can't imagine living into my 80's and having a violent end to my life. So terrible. I feel bad for their kids, too. :(

Polly Ester --- 10 years ago -

I wonder why no one around them noticed the front door was open, especially since it has been cold and obviously no one would be leaving the door open.

I hope there was evidence left behind that will lead to finding who did this to the poor couple.

FabFive --- 10 years ago -

Oh my gosh how horrible.

marthas attic (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

By open, they might mean unlocked, not standing open. I cannot imagine the neighbors would not think something was off if their door had been open for days

Dorothy Parker --- 10 years ago -

Maybe by open they mean unlocked?

I can't imagine seeing my neighbor's door literally open and ignoring it.

FANCY PANTS --- 10 years ago -

So, so sad!!! Those poor people, and their kids. It's very tragic to live so long and then have some sicko commit such a horrid crime against them. I sure hope the creeps left some kind of evidence behind that will convict them.

FabFive --- 10 years ago -

I think it must mean unlocked? Why would you knock on an open door? Wouldn't you be more likely to ask if anyone's home? I would think the neighbors knew they were older and would have done something sooner if it was literally open.

Polly Ester --- 10 years ago -

Yes, that would make more sense than it being wide open and no one noticing it.

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

Home invasion? Please, God, let them catch the person who did such a horrific thing.

a2645039uu --- 10 years ago -

something similar happened in Hunters Ridge in Kingwood a few years back. Women in her 80s and her daughter in her 60s were violently murdered by their 17 year old neighbor. The 17 year old was caught, convicted and sentenced to life w/o parole.... no death penalty cuz he was under 18 when the crime was committed.

SleightOfHand --- 10 years ago -

Seems like the homicde division has ruled out murder/suicide. I lock my doors and made them nearly kick proof.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

I saw the story on it last night. They interviewed two other neighbors who said that area has had a definite uptick in crime. That they had both either added security features or defense items because of it.

Whoever could do that to two elderly people is a cold stone POS.
All we can do now is hope they get them.

Remember? I believe that earlier incident was all over a dog! The perps dog kept repeatedly getting out and also into the old ladies back yard and they approached their neighbors about it, and they were killed for it!

Fine world we live in, right?

I hope they catch those responsible for this horrible crime too and that they resist arrest, you know?

If more people realized how easy it is to kick a door open, they wouldn't sleep well until their doors were reinforced.

Another weak point... the garage door. Anyone with a coat hanger can access your garage quietly and in five seconds. There's an EASY fix to this.

How to prevent garage door breakins

RedMulch --- 10 years ago -

this one reeks of an inside job. just sayin. I'm not going to comment further until the news does.

Dorothy Parker --- 10 years ago -

The situation in Hunters Ridge happened in 2006, almost 10 years ago....and it wasn't random, it was an altercation between neighbors.

I did a little research about the couple murdered in Kings River, and it seems they were involved in a few different outreach programs for disadvantaged youth. It could be someone they met through that. Could be someone specifically targeted them for some reason. A door was open, no forced entry, they probably knew the person who killed them. :(

Sounds like you may well be right Dorothy. If so, that makes it even sadder if someone they helped in the past could be responsible.

whatchamacallit --- 10 years ago -

Often times this is the case.

No good deed goes unpunished!

SleightOfHand --- 10 years ago -

"A door was open, no forced entry,"

Read where I wrote " I lock my doors".

Gigix4 --- 10 years ago -

" I lock my doors".

Yes, Sleight, and read it and I try to do that when I'm inside but during spring, summer and early fall, I am outside as much as I can. Other than "packing" when I'm outside and scaring the crap out of my neighbors, I'm not sure how to protect myself.

I try to be aware of what's going on around my hood since it's mostly retired folks but if I'm in the back (where the pool is), I'm kinda' SOL.

Dorothy Parker --- 10 years ago -

Read where I wrote, "they probably knew the person who killed them."

If someone they knew knocked on their door, odds are, they willingly opened it and maybe even invited them inside. That's why I wrote "no forced entry."

If it was someone they knew; maybe someone down on their luck from their church, or, someone they knew from one of their charities, they wouldn't feel threatened. A lot of cases like this happen by someone the victims know and feel are trustworthy.

FANCY PANTS --- 10 years ago -

I believe that earlier incident was all over a dog!

I know someone who lives across from where this happened in 2006. The dog was a very aggressive dog. The 17 year old punk did not like these old people telling him he needed to keep his dog put up. They had every right to complain because of the aggressive nature of this large dog.

Work in Progress --- 10 years ago -

It sounds like the couple were wonderful people who reached out to others. I really hope they find the person(s) responsible. The idea that they may have known the person makes it so much sadder :(

I read a report that said one of the officers has never seen anyone beaten this badly as one of the victims. First off, that makes me sick. Who beats an 80 something year old person at all much less like that? Secondly, it's my understanding that the more violent the crime the more personal it usually is. I wonder if that's the case in this instance. They need to hurry up and get this killer off the street. This is terrible. I can't imagine their poor family. Thankfully they are in Heaven together and neither has to live without the other after this terrible crime.
