It's officially the holiday season now that the Peace sign has been hung along Kingwood Dr. going eastbound just prior to Woodland Hills!

Dorothy Parker --- 8 years ago -

Nice!! :)

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 8 years ago -

Always nice to see! Especially this year-

Prolix Raconteur --- 8 years ago -

Saw that this weekend. Seems brighter than recent years. Pretty cool tradition and always enjoy seeing it.

whatchamacallit --- 8 years ago -

Yay!

freebyrdll --- 8 years ago -

Brings back wonderful memories!!!

Gigix4 --- 8 years ago -

YES! especially this year.

FANCY PANTS --- 8 years ago -

I love seeing the peace sign. I heard they have been putting it up since the 70s. It's so cool!!!

Brewgirl --- 8 years ago -

Happy Holidays to everyone! Peace on earth, Good will to men!

TinktheSprite --- 8 years ago -

Wasn't the man injured or ill the last time it wasn't up? I am happy he is healthy enough to bring us all such joy this season! I think I will drive down KW Dr. on purpose this season just because.

Gigix4 --- 8 years ago -

last time it wasn't up?

I don't think it was up last year and not sure who put it up for us this year, but many thanks. It seems to bring some calm to the hectic world we live in today when I see it.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 8 years ago -

Is it 1968 again?

FANCY PANTS --- 8 years ago -

I don't think it was up last year

The peace sign was there last year, but it was not very bright.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 8 years ago -

it's a Kingwood tradition that everyone who's local looks forward to seeing.

Gigix4 --- 8 years ago -

Kinda' like all might be well with the world.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 8 years ago -

exactly! It's comforting-

Head of Household --- 8 years ago -

Looks like the sign has been refurbished with fresh lights ... kinda liked the rickety, Charlie Brown condition it had reached, but seeing up again is what counts. I hope the family knows how much the rest of us love that sign - it's a Kingwood landmark during the Holiday season. Great to see it back!

SleightOfHand --- 8 years ago -

It's LED now. Cheaper to operate! It looks nice

djtaylo2 --- 8 years ago -

YAY!

Peace4COH --- 8 years ago -

Recieved a notice from COH to take it down within 24 hours or face a $500 fine. Moved it to the front of the house.

That is just sad! CoH should be so ashamed!

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 8 years ago -

What ordinance is that breaking?! Isn't that your property??

Gah

TinktheSprite --- 8 years ago -

Sucks

Gigix4 --- 8 years ago -

Wonder what the news/media would make of the CoH regarding this. Where is Mayor Turner's compassion?

TinktheSprite --- 8 years ago -

Where are the City's decorations? The peace sign had more history here than COH.

*LOL* --- 8 years ago -

Seriously> Damn! Where do we protest? That just sucks.

SleightOfHand --- 8 years ago -

Exactly what were you violating?

Prolix Raconteur --- 8 years ago -

It's been there every year forever and NOW it's an issue? Unbelievable.

wayward1 --- 8 years ago -

Maybe the sign should read: Peace by any means necessary.

Get the point across to CoH you know.

AMDG --- 8 years ago -

PEACE 4COH - do you have an email contact for the person who made this decision - I think they deserve a full mailbox of community input.

Peace4COH --- 8 years ago -

Thanks for the support! I'll figure something out for next year. It was a neighborhood sign violation in a public right of way. Issued by Adam Holmes 832-394-0689 no email

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

This is the office that came from:

CoH legal department

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

BTW........... your public property is not the city's right of way property.

SleightOfHand --- 8 years ago -

Ahh it was from a bandit sign nazi. That was placed on tree that's in your yard, correct? If so, it is not on a public right of way. Tell Adam Holmes to eat a dong

TinktheSprite --- 8 years ago -

But if like on personal property, if your tree branch hangs over the property borders, it then belongs to the other side? In this case, the City. Does that still hold true?

If I remember in past years, wasn't the peace sign hung higher up? That might be harder to do now with mature trees. BAH HUMBUG Adam Holmes!

I'm so sorry the CoH has decided to make you take it down. It's location and it being so high, I cannot see how it would interfere with other city street signs. Also, isn't that area considered greenbelt? I tried to call the number you provided but of course got a recorder and left a message. I hope I got a recorder because all of you guys were calling giving them a piece of your mind.

Peace4COH, Thanks so much for your dedication in putting up the peace sign year after year. We have lived here for 20 years and Christmas for us will not be the same without it. Some of our kids have been seeing your peace sign during the holidays their entire lives. It's sad the CoH has made such a bad call. I do have to wonder what busybody called it in. Shame on them!

FANCY PANTS --- 8 years ago -

tennismommy --- 8 years ago -

Maybe a news reporter can do a story on the history of the Kingwood sign on tv.

*LOL* --- 8 years ago -

There must have been some busy body that decided to be offended by the peace sign. I mean, I can't imagine the city of Houston goes around looking for these kind of violations out here in the burbs. Some old ninny probably thought it was the sign of the devil or something and reported it as a hazard or other violation.

With all the problems in Houston you would think that a peace sign at this time of the year would be last thing that needs correcting.

Dorothy Parker --- 8 years ago -

That stinks!!! It's a tradition we look forward to every Christmas season!

Some people suck... :(
