In case you haven't seen the new signs.

"ATTENTION PHOTOGRAPHERS -- East End Park is a Private Park owned by KINGWOOD SERVICE ASSOCIATION and it is for the enjoyment of Kingwood residents.

For Profit businesses are prohibited from conducting business activities in East End Park and will be considered trespassers."

captureit11 --- 10 years ago -

THEY CAN F OFF. :)

mutton --- 10 years ago -

And the reasoning? Cos KSA not getting a cut or why? How odd.

EarthyBrie --- 10 years ago -

What if a photographer is a Kingwood resident taking pictures of nature in the park, or taking portraits of other Kingwood residents in the park? I'm not a photographer, but I'm surprised that would be frowned upon.

captureit11 --- 10 years ago -

Seriously, what Kingwood person has their nose in the air who probably complained and now that sign is up. That's rediculous and it probably won't change a thing.

SleightOfHand --- 10 years ago -

Just tell them you aren't making a profit

mutton --- 10 years ago -

Unless you are the one paying, how would they know?

captureit11 --- 10 years ago -

They don't even charge for K stickers? And I have never seen 1 person "monitoring" the park.

If they do crack down on it, they probably just lost half the visitors. I see photographers there almost every weekend. Dumbbbbb on their part.

captureit11 --- 10 years ago -

Lol! Yeah no Mr. KSA I'm not getting paid for this. I'm just doing this for friends!

zapper007 --- 10 years ago -

BS.........

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

Well. That sucks.

Because the KSA cares so much about the residents enjoyment! Lmao.

whatchamacallit --- 10 years ago -

Why would anyone care? So if I am a professional photographer that lives in KW, I am banned from taking pictures of my clients while there? Seems really unfair.

marthas attic (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

What's the difference in someone taking pics down there and when they have all the sports team photos done at the fields, also owned by KSA? There is no way to enforce this.

RussLTX --- 10 years ago -

The sports team photographers have traditionally given money back, per package ordered to the sports organizations - I can't say this is true for KW, but it is for most.

zapper007 --- 10 years ago -

Let's see if it can be enforced?

Doesn't this clearly violate freedom of speech and expression???

SoupIsGoodFood --- 10 years ago -

I don't see how they're going to be able to enforce this.

MatthewM --- 10 years ago -

There may be kickbacks to the sports organizations but the buck stops there. KSA does not profit nor is KSA in business to make money. It's a non profit organization.

The park stewards are in the parks all the time. It not only can but most likely will be enforced.

*LOL* --- 10 years ago -

What is a park steward?

SoupIsGoodFood --- 10 years ago -

So they're going to stop anyone from taking pictures and force them to prove they're not profiting from said pictures?

It's not going to be easily enforced.

-------------------------------------
No. But your post clearly violates logic.

SleightOfHand --- 10 years ago -

I'm going to take photos there and see if they try stopping me.

a2645039uu --- 10 years ago -

Who said you cant take photos? The problem is PROFESSIONAL photographers who set up shop with lights, reflectors, etc and them take over the boardwalk or the trail while they take wedding or senior photos causing others who are tryin to enjoy the park they paid for to alter thier activities.

You being an officer, s

captureit11 --- 10 years ago -

LOL are u joking me????? Props maybe but lighting??? What the H3LL do you think natural light is for???? Lol! I have never seen someone bring reflectors there. I think we found our complainer!

captureit11 --- 10 years ago -

Lights not reflectors. Whatever! Either way.... People need to get a life and mind their own business... Let photographers be successful and enjoy the park!

SgtRock --- 10 years ago -

THEY CAN F OFF. :)?

Eloquently stated.

Jeff --- 10 years ago -

I would think that as long as it's Kingwood residents taking advantage of the park for their pictures and everyone has on their K stickers, people need to stop complaining. As long as they leave it as they found it, I sure don't mind. Too many people with too much time on their hands. Maybe should find another hobby besides bothering residents looking for a nice photo op

needsleep --- 10 years ago -

Those seniors and soon to be married are related to the ones who pay for the use of those areas just as much as you do. I rarely use the parks and trails, so if i bring a professional photographer along with their reflectors, lights and props out there to take pictures of my kids and family that is my prerogative and right. THEY are my guests. Some of those photographers pay for the right to use those areas as well. Complainers need to get over themselves. Yet again the trail association having a Barney Fife moment.

Squatchy --- 10 years ago -

KSA is racist and a barrier to entry into this section of the City of Houston.

Dreamingsideways --- 10 years ago -

Seems like a chain saw would fix the sign problem! And, hey someone should take a picture of the process....

*LOL* --- 10 years ago -

I am thinking that this must have been prompted by some issues. Are groups that are not Kingwood residents coming into the park with their photographers and blocking off areas from resident's use?

I agree that it is a private park and some of us pay for its upkeep. There are also apparently some residents in Kingwood that live in areas that vote to not pay the fees.

If you don't want to pay for the use then not being allowed in seems fair to me. I especially would agree that you shouldn't be making a profit off something that the rest of us have to pay to maintain. I guess I am the minority in that opinion.

Maybe the compromise could be charging professional photographers an annual usage fee for a special permit.

captureit11 --- 10 years ago -

Most photographers are local from what i can tell. Like i said- i have never seen a photographer 1. block off a portion of the park 2. leave items behind 3. damage the park

captureit11 --- 10 years ago -

KSA just needs to get off their high horse and get the stick outta their tush!

Defcon1 --- 10 years ago -

Looks like I need to go walk around out there with a camera now...see if I can rustle some jimmies.

I think the park steward has spoken. I wish their last sentence wasn't cut off. I imagine they were going to say to Sleight of Hand, "You being an officer, should know better." East End is a private park with rules.

Lights not reflectors. Whatever! Either way.... People need to get a life and mind their own business... Let photographers be successful and enjoy the park!

Said the photographer "Capture It". Maybe if you didn't bring in all that paraphernalia with you it wouldn't have come down to this. YES I have seen reflectors there.

To Defcon and others..no one said individuals can't go down there and take pictures. It is clearly professional photographers and their equipment which is unwelcome.

MatthewM --- 10 years ago -

So that means it doesn't happen? Don't expect anyone to be walking around with a big sign that says PARK STEWARD around their neck.

fliptin --- 10 years ago -

seriously stupid! Does someone with a camera ruin your enjoyment at the park? If so, you are a sad, sad person.

Tylers Journey --- 10 years ago -

What about dog walkers that get paid for walking dogs in the park will they get into trouble?

captureit11 --- 10 years ago -

LOL MatthewM- i have never once brought a reflector to East End Park. Get your facts straight buddy.

captureit11 --- 10 years ago -

MatthewM- i have been going to East End for photos for probably 5 years- 1. i dont have a K sticker, but i am a KINGWOOD resident and 2. I have NEVER seen ANYONE monitor that park or my car. not once. ? sooo the odds seem pretty small

Elsa --- 10 years ago -

As someone who goes to East End park often, I have been bothered more by dogs not on leashes than photographers.
