About 45 minutes ago heard a gunshot then about 15 minutes later, several sirens. Anyone else hear them?

I've fired a few guns and that's what I thought it was and so did my hubby. 

I'm just getting home in mills branch and there are police cars on end of lake houston pkwy, interviewing folks and there are more police cars in wild blackberry. The street is blocked off and a firetruck seems on standby. I asked if something was happening they said "have to secure this area". ?!!!??

What were the initial plans for that "home made" bomb? Another school incident, setting it off at the NRA gathering, a Rockets game or IAH or ???

It appears that two guys around 18 - 20's made a homemade bomb on the turtle bridge on West Lake Houston. It went off earlier than expected and one of the guys lost fingers, part of his male privates and half of his face was injured. The person who didn't get injured told police they made a homemade bomb to blow up the turtles. The police are investigating and we were told by police that bomb squad would also come out.

I live right next door to the boy who got injured and the police had me "evacuate" my home which consisted of me standing outside next to my car (which I couldn't and still cant put in my garage) due to being blocked by a firetruck. I was standing literally 20 feet from my house for an hour which wasn't even where the incident occurred. Thanks for wasting my time inept police. 

Is the boy going to be OK? I hope so. 

Did the police say why you had to evacuate your home? 

Everything's cleared out now, they kept saying "we cant release details right now". After about an hour of standing outside watching the police do nothing but stand around and talk one finally came up and kept asking if i knew the boy next door and said that he had been injured. I was told that the bomb squad was coming and needed to "Search the area" as well. I've been in contact with the parents and nothing "terrorist" was going on, just a kid screwing with some things he shouldn't have.

Get real. It sounds like they handled the necessary precautions considering the idiot was making small homemade bombs, no matter the size. I hope you never have a true emergency, and if you do, do not bother wasting their time. Grow up and stop your whining that you had to "stand outside". I appreciate everything these people do for us.

The kid's going to be fine, missing some fingers (unsure if they can be reattatched).

And out of privacy of the family I won't release names/ages, if the police/whomever do so then that's their call. I will say that he's over 18 though.

he's over 18, he built a bomb, it blew up- an 18 yr old who builds a bomb to blow up turtles? I'd say this is a simple case of consequences for a REALLY stupid decision-life lessons are what they are-
