This is the question the shooter asked before going back to his car for his rifle. Is there any question that the rhetoric from the left has created these situations.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot and multiple congressional aides were also hit by a gunman with a rifle who opened fire at a GOP baseball practice in Virginia Wednesday morning

Shooting at the republican baseball practice. The {for charity} game is scheduled for tomorrow between the house and senate dems and repubs. Very sad...

It may have emboldened this particular nutcase.

LiveFreeOrDie --- 8 days ago -

Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., told Fox News he left just before the shooting. As he walked to his car, a man asked DeSantis if it was Republicans or Democrats practicing. About three minutes later, at around 7:15 a.m. the shooting began, DeSantis said. It reportedly last about 10 minutes

Already placing blame? Give it a rest. Your type of rhetoric does nothing but add to the hatred climate in this country. Be part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

Dorothy Parker --- 8 days ago -

I've read multiple sources and none quote DeSantis as saying that or anything at all, for that matter.

No mention of this at the news conference that's happening right now, either.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 8 days ago -

Its hard to believe hate for the other 'side' has reached this kind of level.

You know how we as humans, even Christians and non believers alike, have to ask the big question: WHY did God send Jesus to this earth? Well, this IS why. Man has lost his way. His heart is dark. Not everyone is this bad but bc of the internet/TV spreading this everywhere night and day now, even decent folks get hardened, it incites more of this exposure which these people thrive on, and children are being raised up in this environment of hate.

The shooter is a 66 YO white guy from Illinois.....I pray that our elected representatives draw together to see each other as more than rivalries, more than opponents in a political game of wins and losses, but as people first, humans who can and should be reminded that at any time one of us can be here today and gone tomorrow...and think about how we want to treat each other knowing that.

When I Google this it is all over the internet.

First Coast News, ABC WTLV 10:20 AM. EDT June 14, 2017

Rep. DeSantis had just left baseball field before shooting, may have interacted with shooter
Northeast Florida Congressman Ron DeSantis is one of the members of the Republican baseball team whose practice was interrupted by gunfire. Rep. Steve Scalice, the House Majority Whip, was shot, along with congressional aides and Capitol police. Reports are that five people in total were shot.

DeSantis, who had left the practice moments before the shooting, told ABC News that someone suspicious approached him and a colleague moments before, asking if it was Democrats or Republicans that were practicing.

"We were in the car and he kind of walked over and asked us" DeSantis told ABC News.
DeSantis also told Fox News the person was not carrying anything at the time but felt it was "weird"that he asked the question and walked away.

"The baseball thing is kind of a fluke. There would have been zero security had Steve not been there." DeSantis said.

This was the final practice for the Republican team, who was preparing for a scheduled charity game tomorrow against a Democratic team at the home of the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball team.

DeSantis was not injured. His wife, Casey, is a host on our magazine show First Coast Living. Rep. Desantis and Casey have one young daughter.

"We are all kind of on pins and needles, hoping these guys pull through." DeSantis said.

Why not? It's what you liberals usually do.

It's a human trait, not a party trait. When we each can see our own responsility for change, than ++ things happen. Blame usually polarizes rather than solves. Hopefully, I can tone down blaming language, and see my part. This violence is shocking, but given the air of hostility, is not shocking at the same time. Hopefully, we can focus on solution building. Prayers for the families and healing for the wounded. It feels like a civil war.

Prolix Raconteur --- 8 days ago -

Already placing blame?

Yep. Ardent anti-Trumper with prolific anti Trump/Republican internet presence. IOW, nutcase. Meet the shooter.

Looks like the hateful rhetoric from the left has started to manifest itself.

Prolix Raconteur --- 8 days ago -

The leftist media will bury this story in 24 hours after they spin it into a "gun control" issue; then back to 24/7 Russia, Russia, Russia....

UnbeatableSoup --- 8 days ago -

Or figure out someway to blame the victims for their situation.

More than likely linked to gun control they failed or declined to pass in the past.

Watch and see.

I have heard hateful talk on all sides. Blaming one side, when the evidence is to the contrary just adds fuel to the hate pie, and prevents us from finding reasonable solutions so we can live in a peaceful place. I hope we can find peace as a common goal.

jackass --- 8 days ago -

You're barking up the wrong tree around here...

UnbeatableSoup --- 8 days ago -

I have heard hateful talk on all sides.

It's extremely elevated on the left.

You can't deny that.

UnbeatableSoup --- 8 days ago -

when the evidence is to the contrary

You're kidding? Right?

BLM, ANTIFA, LGTBQRSTUV, Democrats in congress, etc........ all spewing anti-Trump/anti-conservative rhetoric above and beyond lately.

I just don't see this level of hateful rhetoric coming from the right right now.

Dorothy Parker --- 8 days ago -

It's elevated on all sides. Trump's entire campaign was based on hate and an "Us vs Them" mentality.

These situations will continue to happen until people stop demonizing the opposing viewpoint.

UnbeatableSoup --- 8 days ago -

No.It's not.

You are delusional.

What BS.

Judas --- 8 days ago -

Someone roll the tapes of his hate filled stump speech rhetoric. He told his supporters he'd evem pay for their legal defense if they attacked the dems.

Soup=still delusional

Judas --- 8 days ago -

Trump did his share to contribute to the divide early on, like as soon as we had a black president. Birth certificate nonsense and all that jazz. He has been a hater since way before he even got out of the gate. It only got worse when he was campaigning and he still spreads the hate today. He is a pathetic lying leader full of a lying cabinet.

Tryingto --- 8 days ago -

I don't think it's accurate. I think the agitation strategies are mostly personified in Trump, and what he puts out in the universe, and that it has led to the disintegration of integrity and personal accountability across the board. Which may be the goal. In the end, each person doing it is responsible. He may have put the ball in action, but everyone hating, not listening, lying, deflecting responsibility, I'm righting, ridiculing, stereotyping, oversimplifying, etc. is ultimately in charge of themselves. Underground posters, reporters, parents...it's a world made up of individuals who in turn make the party.

Agreed. He is the leader and he sets a venomous example for the country and the world.

It's his birthday and it's flag day. I wonder if this was his gift from the deranged shooter. I heard a congressman saying the political divide must come to an end. It begins with THEM the leaders in congress. They need to start working together and COMPROMISING for US, as in WE THE PEOPLE. They are all pitiful.

Tryingto --- 8 days ago -

Then you didn't listen very closely.

Can you share examples where he had a consensus building and unifying in his campaign?

Prolix Raconteur --- 8 days ago -

It wasn't that one dimensional. He did alienate some people with his populist, nationalist rhetoric, but unified others with his focus on jobs, national security and tax reform. How any of it plays out is yet to be seen, between his erratic nature and the tidal wave of opposition he faces.
