Mark, do you ever look at facts? Memes are for those that are both poorly informed and lack the ability to coherently articulate their opinion.

the Markster --- 243 days ago -

bob...are un-able to say anything that isn't insulting? Your assumption that I don't look at facts are very telling of your lack of information.

FACT:
Corporate tax breaks are permanent. Yours and mine are temporary.

the Markster --- 243 days ago -

Did you vote republican, if so. Why?
If so, are you satisfied with your vote?

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 243 days ago -

Poor Bernie, Hilliary made sure he wouldn't be relevant by buying off the DNC and BUYING her nomination. His ideas, good or bad, won't have a chance now bc she succeeded in stamping out his freedom to be a part of the election process. I'm more worried about those things that undermine our democratic process and freedoms. I hope he sues her.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 243 days ago -

Why shouldn't those that pay over 70% of individual income taxes get a break?

Name one individual tax reduction plan that didn't have an expiration date?

Corporate taxes should be about 5%.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 242 days ago -

People's SS is based on your earning over your lifetime. If you had invested that FICA money, you would probably be a millionaire. It's not entitlement. If you didn't work, you won't get it- or if you made minimum wage, you'll get a small amount.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 242 days ago -

According to their calculator, my payment at age 65 is 2600 and age 70 3600. Yes had I been able to invest that money, I would have been much better off and I could leave it to my family. Under the current system it's more backdoor welfare.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 242 days ago -

Very true, and good point. (at least, a spouse can collect half if she has no working history.)

jackass --- 242 days ago -

Why do regular people vote republican?

Because they honestly believe (hope) that eventually it really will trickle down...

What?s the definition of insanity again?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 242 days ago -

It does trickle down.

jackass --- 242 days ago -

No it doesn?t.

DVaz --- 242 days ago -

Regular people are sane.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 242 days ago -

Where do you think the money goes?

fuzz81 --- 242 days ago -

Cayman Islands

jackass --- 242 days ago -

The last company I worked for the CEO made a base salary of 500k...his bonus in 2015 was 44 million. That?s where the money goes. Not to mention the team of ?VP?s? who also got big bonuses. And they capped the amount hourly workers could get raises at 3% per year.

There.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 242 days ago -

So what do you think they do with that money?

Sounds more like your envious of their ability to command a good compensation package.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 242 days ago -

The fact is simple supply and demand. Hourly workers are easy and cheap to replace. Talented executives not so much.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 242 days ago -

Businesses are not benevolent entities. Their only purpose is to provide equity for the share holders.

jackass --- 242 days ago -

I?m not envious at all, I?m doing just fine...sounds like you?re hostile to the reality that they don?t actually reinvest much or ?pass the savings on to you? as they say...

the Markster --- 242 days ago -

So far Dvaz is the only one to actually answer the question.

Is that why you voted republican? ATD because of where the SSI goes? Thanks

On a side note regarding SSI. I understand the gov borrowed monies from SSI. Are those monies in a gen fund?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 242 days ago -

Then what do you think they do with their money.

jackass --- 242 days ago -

HOA fees...

RayofHope --- 242 days ago -

Why regular people vote Republican can be found in the recent comments by the former director of NPR, which is a strong supporter of the Democratic part.

He traveled around the country visiting with country people, mostly Republican, and found them much more open than liberal Democrats.

The Republican party is much less rigid and the Democratic party. There is more freedom for Republicans.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 242 days ago -

FICA is the same, whether the dems or the pubs are in office, mark- do you have a job? If you do, FICA was taken out during Obama's terms or Trump's term. Do you not get that?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 242 days ago -

HOA fees..

So you don't know, do you.

HOA fees..

So you don't know, do you.

Any idea what the HOA fees are in exclusive communities? What do you suppose it takes to maintain a 20 million dollar home? Maintenance, landscaping, association fees, property tax etc... yes I know what they do with their money. And it ain?t trickling down to you...at all. What would you do with 20 million a year? Make sure people around you benefit from it or stash it for when you no longer have that earning power?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 242 days ago -

Mark, don't tell him! he won't be able to sleep tonight! lol

Do you realize that those HOA fees go to landscaping, tree removal, bike trails, etc. Those generally aren't services that are performed by mlionaires. Therefore, those HOA fees do trickle down to non millionaires.

Stash it? Really? Stashing it is called investing. Investments in stocks, Bonds, small businesses and real estate.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 242 days ago -

If you take someone who has a taxable income of 1,000,000 and save him 100,000 a year in taxes then that money goes right back into the economy. 100% of it unless he puts cash under the mattress.

That same 100,000 paid in taxes to the government is spent with about 30% efficiency.

jackass --- 242 days ago -

Naive...I?m not saying they aren?t consumers, but accessible cash is far more valuable in an uncertain economy, which is at best what we have now.

And the HOA fees they pay, typically in excess of 10k per month, rarely goes to any of their personal landscaping, HOA fees that high are designed to keep out the undesirable. Take a look at who CANT buy a penthouse in the Dakota...not much landscaping on the upper west side.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 242 days ago -

In the case of the Dakota and other similar properties, the HOA fees pay the doormen, security company, maintenance personnel and the HOA lawyer. Trickle down again.

the Markster --- 242 days ago -

Our senator does not represent me

Mark, don't tell him! he won't be able to sleep tonight! lol?

That makes zero sense lol but I'm sure it's an attempt at sarcasm lol lame old dragons don't fly or breath fire. But they do have bad breath. lol

Unless that someone is a corporation. In Harris county alone, how many millionaires reside vs how many million dollar corporations? Now with that dynamic, how much of that money goes back into the economy?
lol, why do regular people vote republican?

jackass --- 242 days ago -

By your definition any consumer based society would be a trickle down economy. That?s the loosest definition I can imagine.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 242 days ago -

But that is the definition of trickle down. Socialists and the left want trickle up via the government. Where those upper income people are heavily taxed and money is redistributed to others at lower levels of income. This model is doomed to failure because:

1. sooner or later you run out of other people's money.
2. You drive money and income offshore to avoid draconian taxes.
3. You punish the upper income earners for their hard work, self sacrifice and success.
4. Government is the most inefficient way to spend money.

the Markster --- 242 days ago -

Socialists and the left want trickle up

No. FYI
Middle-out economy is what we want. Where the middle class spends the money it used to spend back in the 60's. You know, when one income could support a large family comfortably and take vacations.
